CairnsEvents Guide

Cairns has become known as the Adventure Capital of Australia. This city boasts a wide range of activities for you to partake in, such as white-water rafting, scuba diving, trailing and even bungee jumping. Here are a few Events, which will surely get you in the mood for some adventure!!

Flames of the Forest
An adventurers dream!! Take a drive in Australian car hire to this themed restaurant any Thursday, Friday or Saturday for an exciting meal you'll never forget! Nestled below the canopy of the North Queensland Forest, (the oldest forest in the world), the Flames of the Forest offers a different dining experience each night. Thursdays feature a native style evening with local Aboriginals telling their stories and showcasing their exotic tribal dances by the light thrown from an enormous bonfire. Fridays are just as exciting with music by June Graham, a singer/guitar player. On Saturday you can never tell what's going to happen, and that's because Saturdays are an evening of Surprise!! Why have dinner at any old restaurant when you can eat at the Flames of the Forest and experience a little bit of Cairns culture! But remember, these events only happen on Thursday, Friday and Saturday so make sure plan your Australian vacation around them.

Kuranda Scenic Railway, Skyrail and Tjapukai Aboriginal Park
By far one of the most exciting events you can experience in while visiting Cairns! Begin this magical experience by first boarding the famous Kuranda Scenic Railway for an exhilarating journey along one of the world's most fascinating scenic operation rail tours. Take a quick picture with your fellow Australian car hires at the Barron Gorge Falls and then sit back and enjoy the rest of the rail trip. Upon arriving at Kuranda Railway station you'll have the whole day to explore such sites as the Village of the Rainforest and see the Tjapukai Aboriginal Culture Show. But that's not it! The real show gets underway when after sunset. Come join the traditional peoples of the land in an evening where you'll not only learn about the Tjapukai people and their traditions, but where you'll also get to become one! The audience is encouraged to participate in such ceremonies as the Lakeside Welcoming Ceremony, which could involve you and your fellow Australian car hires being welcomed with fire and water! The Kuranda Scenic Railway, Skytrail and the Tjapukai Aboriginal Park are must see experience that can only be found in Cairns!

Cairns Rainforest Dome
This spectacle is truly one of the most breathtaking site seeing events in Cairns. The Rainforest Dome is home to an all weather wildlife exhibit protected from the elements by a 20 metre high glass dome. Located in the heart of Cairns on the rooftop of the amazing Reef Hotel Casino, this habitat is home to over 100 species of animals that wander around (unharmed) this glass replica of their natural environment. The Dome promotes education and awareness of both the animals and their habitat and why it is so important for Australian car hires to stay on the roads. When people drive through the jungles of Australia they are causing irreversible damage to animals natural habitat. For many of these animals, this is all that is left of their natural home. The Cairns Rainforest Dome also offers dining, so you can even eat dinner eye to eye with some of the worlds most sacred and beautiful animals!

Rainforest 4WD Adventure Events
If you have an exotic Australian car for hire, you may want to leave it behind for this trip! This tour begins by slowly climbing the Lake Morris Road, only a hop, skip and a jump from Cairns. Here you will find a breathtaking view of the entire city, so be sure to stop and snap a photo of some of your Australian car hire friends! Next you'll continue through lush tropical rainforests (staying on the roads of course!) and on to Lake Morris. Break here for lunch and some more beautiful pictures. Get ready for the real adventure as you leave the road and continue along manmade paths to tackle the Clohesy River Road. Don't be afraid to bump along through the World Heritage rainforest, over creeks and rugged terrain. Keep those cameras poised for animals and plants you won't see anywhere else!!
