Car Rental Brisbane

Brisbane is the state capital of the "Sunshine State" Queensland, and is Australia's third largest city. It is conveniently located in the southeast corner of the state, nestled between exciting Gold Coast and the aptly named Sunshine Coast .
Since hosting the 1982 Commonwealth Games and Expo in 1988, Brisbane (known locally as the River City) has grown into one of Australia's most popular tourist destinations.

BrisbaneLocated centrally around an exciting array of attractions, Brisbane has much to offer visitors that have elected to enjoy the freedom of unfettered travel that a rental car provides.
Moreton Bay, a spectacular boating and fishing paradise is a short drive east of the City. From Caloundra some 90 klms to the north, the Bay stretches some (160klms) to Southport on the Gold Coast encompassing some 360 islands of varying sizes. Emptying into the Bay is the beautiful Brisbane River upon which Brisbane City is founded.

Moreton Island, (Brisbane's best kept secret) is only 18klms off the mainland, 45 minutes by fast cat or 2 hours journey by the car ferry. Here you can lazily explore miles of Robinson Crusoe beaches, swim or snorkel in crystal clear waters, toboggan down the highest sand hills in the islands inner desert and hand feed the local Dolphins which obligingly come in every night for the occasion. Moreton Island has no sealed road infrastructure so any visit by car must be in a 4wd hire vehicle.

Immediately abutting Moreton Island to the south is North Stradbroke Island, called “Minjerribah” in the local Aboriginal language. Unlike Moreton Island, Straddie as it is now known locally, has two sealed roads and its peaceful beaches, freshwater lakes and forests, are all accessible with a two wheel drive rental car. Watching passing whales, including large fish, turtles and stingrays swimming lazily in crystal clear seas below the cliffs at Point Lookout, ensure that any visit to Straddie will never be easily forgotten.

Townships on Moreton Bay include Redcliffe, Manly, and Cleveland. These adjacent towns offer cruises around the bay and trendy bay side cafes where you can sit, relax, soak in the sun, and take in the beautiful scenery.

Brisbane RiverOne hour to the south of Brisbane along the recently upgraded Pacific Motorway is the world famous Gold Coast - the holiday destination that offers everything, and more!

  • Glamorous Main Beach
  • World class shopping
  • Action packed theme parks and wildlife sanctuaries
  • Championship golf courses
  • Sub-tropical rainforest tours and Mountain views
  • And more!

70 kilometres of breathtaking coastline offer 35 patrolled surfing beaches that are among the most popular in the world.

For the kids (and adults who are kids at heart) an hour's drive in your rental car to the Gold Coast offers theme parks beyond your wildest dreams. Dream World, Sea World, Movie World and Wet'n'Wild are just a few of the action packed adventure parks on offer.

Fireworks in Brisbane! For those who love beauty and stunning views you can also explore the adjacent mountain ranges, valleys, lakes and visit the interesting towns of South East Queensland Country.

Just north of Brisbane is the Sunshine Coast, which boasts miles of white beaches and crystal clear waters.

Why not visit beautiful Hervey Bay just 3.5 hours drive north from Brisbane and book a boat to go Whale Watching or book the ferry and visit nearby Fraser Island. If you have hired a 4wd from ABC Integra you can take the four wheel drive on the ferry and drive over the Island interior or travel for miles along it's pristine beaches. Fraser Island is renowned as one of the most unspoilt islands in Australia.

For spectacular panoramic views of Brisbane, you can't miss the Mount Coot-tha lookout. Just 15 minutes drive from the heart of Brisbane City, this is the best vantage point in the area.
Other spectacular scenery and adventure around Brisbane you can reach in your hire car include the majestic Glasshouse Mountains, an hour north of the city. These ancient mountains are the empty shells of dormant volcanoes. On the way to the Glasshouse Mountains you can stop off and visit Steve Irwin's (the crocodile hunter) wildlife sanctuary where you can get as close as you will ever wish to get to these fearsome creatures.

Brisbane is packed with sites and scenery for any traveler with a hire car, the freedom of your own car rental vehicle allowing you complete control over your holiday and private access to all the attractions.

Don't forget, for short and long term travelers on a budget, hiring a Campervan often recommends itself as an ideal way to experience the wonders of this unique part of Australia while at the same time providing the solution to cheap clean and convenient accommodation. Whether you rent a car, rent a 4wd or hire a Campervan from ABC Integra you can be assured that your visit to Brisbane will indeed be a memorable one.
