Q. What road speed limits apply in Australia?

A. As at July 2004 the national speed limits were:

Residential: 50 kms per hour

Freeways: 100 kms per hour

Others: As signed, usually 60, alternatively 70 or 80 kms per hour

Q. What should I do in the event of an accident?

A. You should inform us immediately as is practical to do so. You will be required to obtain any full third party or witness details at the time of the occurrence, complete an insurance claim form and submit it to the hire company within 48 hours.

Failure to comply may void your comprehensive insurance completely.

Likewise, if the accident occurred when you were using the vehicle contrary to our conditions of hire or if an unauthorized person was driving.

(b) Any person involved is killed or injured

(c) Excluding the actual vehicles involved, if the crash causes $2500 or more damage.

(d) You suspect drink driving or drugs are involved
