Area Use and Driving Restrictions
Q. Can I Tow with my Hire Vehicle?
A. Towing is a violation of the rental agreement and is not permitted under normal circumstances unless we give you prior written permission to do so. In this regard if you need a trailer to carry excess luggage, there is no problem if we have accepted your request.
Areas 1-2-3-4
When you complete the simple quotation process on this site you will be asked to select the area's you intend to travel through.
Zone (1 ) encompasses the Eastern Seaboard and invites no charge. You can travel up to 200kms inland from the coast along the Eastern Seabord.
If you are not travelling one way between cities, we allow up to 200 kms radius from the depot of collection without any additional kms charge.
Zone 2-3-4 have associated additional costs due to insurance requirements as follows:

It is in your interest to complete this section accurately as failing to provide accurate information in respect to where you intend to travel may result that we are unable to guarantee the validity of your web generated quote or reservation when you arrive to collect your vehicle.
Remember the default is Zone 1 = no additional cost
Q. What is the Policy for Off-Road Driving and what areas are forbidden?
A. Any 2 WD hire Vehicle can only be driven on sealed roads at all times. As per the rental contract terms and conditions you must not take the vehicle off sealed roads without permission by the company in writing.
Further exclusions (without written permission in writing) include taking the vehicle to;
1. Kangaroo Island, Moreton Island or Fraser Island.
2. Any points in Western Australia west of Carnarvon;
3. In the Northern Territory, on the unsealed sections of Larapinta and Namitjira Drivers, commonly known as the ”Mereenie Loop” and the unsealed road to Jim Jim and Twin Falls,
4. In the Northern Territory, south of Katherine to the South Australian Border, outside of local towns and city precincts between sunset and sunrise;
5. In Queensland:
- Beyond Chillagoe or Georgetown in a westerly direction;
- If the vehicle is a passenger vehicle or truck, beyond Cape Tribulation or Laura in a northerly direction;
- If the Vehicle has four wheel drive, beyond Cooktown or Laura in a northerly direction;
- Above the snowline in Tasmania, New South Wales and Victoria (being Jindabyne in New South Wales and Bright in Victoria) from 1 June to 30 September each year;
- On beaches or through streams, dams, rivers, or floodwater.
- On flood prone roads or any road way where the Police or any Government Authority have issued a warning or caution;
The above are some examples only so if you are in doubt about whether the area you intend to visit may be proscribed, please contact us for advice.
Examples of further breaches of our rental contract are:
- Driving above the snowline
- Submerging the vehicle in water
- Driving on beaches and/or dry river beds without prior written permission.
- Proven to be drink driving
- Driving off road without prior written permission.
- Incurring damage to the under body and overhead of the vehicle.
